It's been 45 days since we launched API For Product Managers, a playbook for product managers and non-tech folks to learn about API which is considered as one of most important topics in tech.
When I was writing this book, my goal was sell 100 copies.
And, we achieved this goal in just 2 weeks.
To be honest, I didn't expect so many positive response since this was my first time selling things online.
There are so many things I learnt from this experiment of selling online, which I will mention in this blog, so keep reading 😁
1. Product to Sales
I built the product and completed the content in a week. Our product was ready now but we didn't have GTM strategy at place. Being an engineer it was expected, I didn't have much idea how to sell this things, so we started experimenting.
Naval said it right, "Learn to build and Learn to sell and you'll be unstoppable".
- Launched the product on Gumroad.
- Created a landing page along with Lead form →
- Created listing on ProductHunt → Got 500+ leads, $300+ revenue in first 2 days.
2. Pricing Experiment
- Decided to run a campaign ( with 70% discount ) for folks who visited landing page, but didn't bought the course.
- On reducing the course price to $3, our revenue didn't increase as expected
- Conversion when course price is $3 ( 1.5 - 2 % )
- Conversion rate when course price is $10 is ( 5-6 % )
Insights
- If you think, your product is valuable. Don't SELL it for FREE whether it is a info product or xplainer video.
