Hacking your way to a successful product hunt launch

October 20, 2021

I recently launched, API for Product manager on Product Hunt, and it was a massive success. In this blog, I am documenting my learning and insights from launch.

If I have to describe product hunt in simple terms, I would say it's a site for every builder to get their first 100 users, get FREE traction and real feedback from community.

5 things I did for launching on ProductHunt

1. Adding a Sign Up Form for on website

Product hunt launch can give thousands of free traffic on your website. And, you can't afford to loose those users. So, I simply added a signup form on website, and collected over 1200+ interested leads in just 48 hours.

2. Infographics and thumbnail image

First impression is last impression of your product. So, you need to make sure the infographics and thumbnail images used are attractive and unique.

  • Add a GIF image thumbnail on product. It makes the product look catchy.
  • Visit launch page to know more.

3. Asking friends on twitter

You can't fly without a take off. These folks can help you launch takeoff. Before launch, make a list of people who can help you in upvoting and sharing feedback about your product. Reach out to these folks when you launch the product.

I remember, I had compiled around 30 name to reach out to folks on Twitter and ask their feedback.

4. Choosing the right time slot to launch โฑ

Everyday product hunt feature top products of the day. Schedule your launch at 12:30pm IST ( 12:00am PST) to get a full 24hrs window.

5. Interact with community ๐ŸŽ™

Product Hunt community is dope ๐Ÿ”ฅ. There are tons of feedback and messages you'll receive on launch from community members.
